The firmware can be updated via either the 'Firmware & Configurations' web page, or with the 'admin ftp' and 'admin firmware' CLI commands. Updating firmware via tftp does not use the FTP login, password, or path settings. The firmware update will be applied to the alternate boot bank. Downgrading firmware versions is not supported. WARNING: DO NOT POWER OFF THE UNIT DURING THE FIRMWARE UPDATE PROCESS. To ensure system stability, it is recommended that firmware updates be performed incrementally; avoid skipping more than three major releases at once. ===== NOTES ===== - The minimum LPM (Lantronix Provisioning Manager) version required for the SLC9000 9.7.0.1 firmware release is 7.12.1. - For G52x devices used as fail-over devices with the SLC9000, the minimum required firmware version for the G52x device is 2.6.0.3. - The following SFP modules have been tested with the SLC9000: o 10G Optical - Finisar FTLX8571D3BCL-EM 850nm - FS.com SFP-10GER-31 1310nm 40km - FS.com SFP-10GLR-31 - 10GTek 10G-Base-SR 850mm 300M - Lantronix TN-SFP-10G-LR - Lantronix TN-SFP-10G-SR o 10G Copper - FS.com SFP-10G-T-30 - Lantronix SFP-100M-COPPER o 1G Optical - FS.com SFP1G-LX-31 1000BASE SFP 1310nm 10km - FS.com SFP-GE-BX 1000BASE SFP 1490/1310 10km - Finisar FTLX8519P3BTL 850nm - Lantronix SFP-2K-DUPL 1310nm - Lantronix SFP-10K-DUPL 1310nm - Lantronix TST-SFP-10K-R1310nm-/T1490nm-SM - BIDI o 1G Copper - FS.com SFP-GB-GE-T - Finisar FCLF8520P2BTL o Direct Attach Cable (DAC) and Active Optical Cable (AOC) - GTek Gtek-SFP-H10GB-CU2M (DAC) - CISCO-TYCO 1-2053783-1 (DAC) - iPolex iPolex-SFP-10G-AOC3M (AOC) - Lantronix DAC-10G-SFP-01M (DAC) ============ NEW FEATURES ============ - Enhancements over SLC8000 product line include: o Upgraded memory, CPU and storage o Support for an integrated cellular modem as a primary network connection or failover network connection (refer to NTC-5xx cellular modem in the Documentation Addenda below) o Expanded cellular modem telemetry available in Percepxion o Ethernet switch support for up to 32 ports, including VLANs Note: VLAN configuration, and some port attributes configuration, is not currently supported in the web UI. o Up to 4 network interfaces (2 standard RJ45 and 2 SFP), with fail-over/ fail-back supported with the 2 SFP interfaces o Console port is auto DCE/DTE o RJ45 serial ports activity light o LEDs for device status o Expanded APIs, see API icon in the dashboard and Services->Web Server for a link to the API documentation o CLI 'diag nettrace' Wireshark pcap files can be saved to local storage (a maximum of 3 local pcap files can be saved). The local pcap files can be downloaded from the web UI System Info files repository. o Enhanced WebSSH/WebTelnet functionality (now called Web Terminal) o Increased limits for custom Expect, TcL and Python scripts (size of script file and script results) o Enhanced network interface diagnostics (ethtool) o Reason and length of time for last power cycle or reboot o External factory reset button o Support for ext3 and ext4 filesystems on USB thumb drives o Support for NTP servers acquired via DHCP o Expanded ZTP / bootstrap / Percepxion features for device onboarding, see ZTP & Bootstrapping online help o Support for Duo two-factor authentication with RADIUS and LDAP o Support for Docker Containers (see CLI set/show container) o Automated management of Cisco IOS and IOS-XE devices connected to serial ports (see CLI set/show managed). Note: this feature is not supported on the U1/U2 USB Ports. ========= BUG FIXES ========= - Percepxion client fixes for Percepxion cloud and on-premise interoperability. ============ KNOWN ISSUES ============ - Configuration save and restore are not supported for Docker Containers or automated management of Cisco devices; this will be supported in the next release. - On the Secure Lantronix Network page, the "Terminal" links to the CLI and Device Ports are not yet supported; this will be supported in the next release. - If the web server is disabled, the REST API is not accessible; support for the REST API while the web server is disabled will be available in the next release. - For NTC cellular modems and Verizon SIMS, the cellular status is missing the PDP context for the active data channel (3); it currently displays the PDP context for channel 1. ================================ DOCUMENTATION ERRATA AND ADDENDA ================================ - NTC 5xx Integrated Cellular Modem The SLC9000 introduces support for connecting the Lantronix NTC-501/2 Cellular Gateway to the SLC9000. Similar to the Lantronix G520, the NTC Gateway is an external device. However, unlike the G520's Ethernet connection, the NTC connects directly to the SLC9000 via USB. It is automatically detected during boot and managed as if it were an internal cellular radio, utilizing the EMG-style Cellular Web GUI and CLI commands. Device Variants & Network Capabilities NTC-501: North America variant. NTC-502: Global (APAC/EMEA) variant. Network Compatibility: Supports both 4G and 5G. For 5G networking, it supports NSA (Non-Standalone hybrid 4G/5G) and SA (Standalone pure 5G). Interface Emulation: The NTC-50x USB host port defaults to emulating an ECM Ethernet interface, allowing the SLC9000 to manage it as a standard network interface. Hardware Prerequisites (NTC Accessory Kit) Integration requires the NTC Accessory Kit, which installs into the rear I/O slot of the SLC9000. The kit includes: - A mezzanine I/O card featuring a USB-C 2.0 port (2A) and a 12V DC terminal block (2A) to power the NTC gateway. - A custom replacement faceplate with mounting screws. - A secure, locking USB-C to terminal block combo cable. Default Device Credentials Management Users: root / admin Passwords: Unique to each device and printed on the bottom label of the NTC unit. Installation and Configuration Guide Important Note on Hot-Plugging: USB NTC Gateway hot-plug detection by the SLC9000 is not supported. The SLC9000 only detects and registers the NTC Gateway during its initial boot sequence. Step 1: Install the Mezzanine I/O Card Power off the SLC9000 completely. Remove the mezzanine slot cover from the rear panel of the SLC9000. Insert the NTC SLC9000 Accessory Mezzanine I/O Card into the slot. Secure the new faceplate using the provided screws. Step 2: Prepare the NTC Gateway Ensure the NTC Gateway is powered off. Verify the NTC is in its factory default configuration mode (refer to the NTC User Guide if a reset is needed). Install your cellular provider's SIM card into the NTC. Step 3: Cable Connection & Power On Using the provided combo cable, connect the NTC Gateway to the newly installed SLC9000 Mezzanine I/O card. Note: Ensure the USB-C screw-lock is securely fastened on the SLC9000 side. Power on the SLC9000. The mezzanine card will automatically supply 12V DC power to the NTC Gateway. Provisioning and Management The SLC9000 features seamless, zero-touch provisioning for the NTC Gateway: - Auto-Detection: Upon boot, the SLC9000 automatically detects the NTC Gateway via the USB-C connection. - Auto-Configuration: In most deployment scenarios, the NTC Gateway will automatically detect the network operator settings from the installed SIM card and establish a connection to the cellular network without any user interaction. - Management Experience: The SLC9000 controls and manages the external NTC Gateway as a standard network interface, utilizing the same Web GUI and CLI as an internal cell radio card. ================= PREVIOUS RELEASES =================
